Hugh Smith
Director

Hugh first started as a brickpaver/labourer in 1984 at the age of 19, working for a local landscaper, followed by a civil paving contractor. In 1988 he commenced working for himself initially in partnerships with mates, then on his own in 1990. By this time he was already the preferred brick paving contractor in Perth for major builders such as John Hollands, Thiess, Transfield and others. It's his ability to work in well with all other trades,supervisors and project managers while providing a high standard of service to his clients, that has enabled him to build his company, Hugh & Co Contracting Pty Ltd, into one of Australia's finest.
Mary McKern
Company Administrator

Mary commenced working for Hugh & Co in June 2005, bringing with her 20 years administration experience ranging over accountancy, insurance and warehousing, including 10 years in partnership operating a commercial cleaning business. Over the past 4 years, Mary has developed relationships with all our customers and suppliers that leave a lasting impression of committment to excellent service for all. Mary has a real "can do" attitude and always places our clients' requests and concerns as her priority.
Terry Pinfold
Senior Supervisor

A British City & Guilds streetmason / pavior of over 30 years, Terry has been with our company for the past 16 years. He has substantial experience in all aspects of brick paving as well as the ability to manage staff and organise a diverse variety of large paving projects in a very professional manner, such as Leighton Beach (granite cobble stone 6400mē). He has supervised many hardstand projects including Fremantle Wharf for Patrick's (64,000mē), Woolworth's Distribution Centre for Multiplex (36,000mē) Kalgoorlie Railway Container Park (13,000mē), SCT Rail Container Park for Mills & Hassell (19,000mē) and TEREX - Perth Airport for McLeish & Matthews (18,000mē) and many others.
Anton Mahoney
Team Supervisor

A brickpaver with over 20 years experience who has specialised in the machine laying of Hardstands. Anton has been involved in the following projects; 1999 - 6 weeks in Yemen as a paving/laying machine instructor on the Aden Port - a 300,000mē project; worked as a supervisor and paving machine operator at Hong Kong Disney (21,000mē), supervisor/paving machine operator at Transrail Container Park, Christchurch NZ (66,000mē), paving machine supervisor - Christchurch Square NZ (machine lay of granite 330 x 230 x 80mm pavers - 36,000mē), Botany Downs, Auckland NZ (28,000mē), Timber-yard Kaitia NZ (23,000mē of interlocking 120mm thick pavers).
Shane Delaney
Team Supervisor

With his father owning a paving/landscaping business in Ireland, Shane was introduced to the industry at a young age. He worked for his father and other industry contractors before starting his own business in Jan 2000 (Newbridge Paving & Landscaping) which he built into a sucessful business over an eight year period. Shane is a recognised member of the National Guild of Master Craftsmen in Ireland and has a Cert 3 in Horticulture and Landscaping from Challenger TAFE WA, he arrived in Australia in July 2009 and has since proved to be a valuable member of the Hugh & Co. supervisory team. Shane's extensive landscaping and brickpaving skills enables us to supply our clients with a more diverse service.
Matt Pentecost
Paving Supervisor

Matt joined Hugh & Co in January 2006, over the years he's proven himself to be a reliable and conscientious brickpaver with a real passion for the industry. In late 2009 Matt was promoted to supervisor, a role that he has embraced with vigour. We at Hugh & Co believe Matt will continue to develop into a very good supervisor and be a good long term asset for the company.
Daniel Tailor
Paving Supervisor

Daniel first started brick paving in 1999 working for a landscape gardener. Since then Daniel has worked for a number of brick paving businesses including Hugh & Co in 2003 before starting his own company in early 2004 (Taylor Layed Brick Paving) which he successfully ran for 3 years before returning to Hugh & Co as a paving supervisor. Daniel has a proven ability to liaise well with clientele and their representatives while managing his staff and projects in a professional manner.
